About Uganda

Uganda, known as the "Pearl of Africa" is a landlocked country in East Africa.  It borders Lake Victoria, the largest lake of Africa.  The population is approximately 32 million of which 85% live in the country's rural areas.  Kampala, the capital, is Uganda's largest city and located on the north shore of the Lake (right across from Mwanza, Tanzania, where I worked before)

Uganda is one of the poorest nations in the world, with 37.7 per cent of its population living below the international poverty line of US$1.25 per day in 2009
